The RCMP is dedicated to providing quality policing services to the community of Revelstoke. Our priority continues to be the safety of all. As Canada’s national police service, the RCMP is taking steps to maintain its federal, provincial, and municipal policing duties during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. We are engaging with partners to assist with a coordinated response.
As an emergency response agency, we have existing protocols and procedures that deal with these types of health situations. As police officers we routinely have to take precautions due to contacts with individuals and communicable diseases. Our members deal with exposure to bodily fluids and other hazards regularly, so our training and procedures have always focused on reducing those risks (i.e. we plan, prepare, prevent and protect).
The Revelstoke RCMP continues to focus on community policing – including timely response to 911 calls – by investigating reported crimes such as assaults, impaired driving, and thefts, and by mediating solutions all with a goal of achieving a safe community.
This program is available through MedicAlert Foundation Canada. The MedicAlert ID and service was originally created to help medics treat people quickly and effectively who couldn’t speak for themselves. Today, the service can also help people with dementia who go missing. People with dementia can become lost even in familiar places. Personal information and a hotline number are engraved on the unique MedicAlert blue bracelet that’s worn full-time by a person with dementia. Should they ever go missing, police can quickly identify them by calling the MedicAlert 24-hour Emergency Hotline.
