Midwives Association of British Columbia

The Selkirk Medical Group has one midwife and six family physicians working together in a collaborative, maternity care team.  Registered Midwife (RM) Ariel Christman is a graduate of the University of British Columbia’s Bachelor of Midwifery program, delivered through the Department of Family Practice and Faculty of Medicine. Ariel is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

In British Columbia, midwives are primary caregivers working in community-based practices. They provide evidence-based, client-centered maternity and newborn care and are an established part of the BC health care system.
