Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy – Revelstoke

The Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy (CBAL) offers a variety of programs for families, children, youth, adults and seniors. Family literacy drop-in, tutoring, family night out, one to one, Parents as Literacy Supporters (PALS), Parents of Primary Students (POPS), free book exchange, Mother Goose, story adventure kit lending library, financial literacy initiatives and resources and special events.

Revelstoke Literacy Action Committee is a group of service providers and community members interested in creating and strengthening learning opportunities for all in our community.

Financial Literacy

The Revelstoke financial literacy project is a collaboration of many service providers, financial institutions and businesses supporting a coordinated approach to improve knowledge, skills and awareness that will help individuals make good decisions about their financial resources. The ‘Making Cents’ Guides provide detailed information to build personal skills & are available for: Young Adults, Families with Children, Adults and Seniors. Also visit Revy Super Savers.

The Revelstoke Credit Union is a financial services institution that offers impartial, non-branded financial literacy seminars and workshops for anyone or any group in the community. Individual and group workshops cover everything from basic banking (for both children and adults) to buying a home.

Okanagan College – Revelstoke Centre

Okanagan College offers a variety of adult learning opportunities from business certificates, courses in computers & technology, employment & professional development, and specialized training.

Adult Academic & Career Preparation is for adults to upgrade general academic skills, complete high school graduation, or meet post-secondary entrance requirements.

Volunteer Literacy Tutoring program is a free & confidential one to one tuoring program to help adult learners gain literacy skills so they can achieve life goals.

ESL Settlement Services includes a volunteer English language tutoring program as well as other services.

Prenatal classes include six classroom hours plus a hospital tour.

Okanagan Regional Library

ORL Revelstoke Branch carries a multitude of print and digital resources for adults, children, ESL, print-challenged and other-language readers. Weekly programming includes toddler time and story time, as well as special events. Free exam invigilation and free computer stations are available to the public.
