The Moving Forward program is part of the Revelstoke Women’s Shelter Society’s wrap-around service. It connects women living in the transition home with other women in the community including previous shelter clients who wish to stay connected.
The Moving Coordinator each month creates an exciting schedule of activities, providing a social outlet for women in Revelstoke. The coordinator also mentors women transitioning from an abusive and/or isolated environment to one that is empowered and healthy.
The program also provides outreach services. Staff assist clients to secure housing, provide transportation to appointments, and coordinate when needed with a variety of community service providers (substance use and mental health counsellors; legal, medical, educational and early childhood supports; advocacy; employment services).
